Six Years of Plantar Fasciitis, Migraines, Back Pain

I had a client come in today for her 2nd appointment. She let me know that, in addition to incredible relief from back pain and migraines, she was most surprised by the fact that the plantar fasciitis she had been suffering with since her pregnancy six years (!) ago, seemed to have disappeared.

How could this be, especially since I didn’t work with her feet?

So often, the pain issues we have are caused by problems in another part of the body. In this case, it was an imbalance in her pelvis, which can be a pretty common issue during and after pregnancy. (Many women continue to carry imbalances from pregnancy and birth for YEARS.) By releasing her tailbone and helping her pelvic muscles rebalance themselves, the fascial (connective tissue) tensions that were pulling down her legs and into her feet were relieved.

This is what a holistic bodywork approach is all about. Helping the body find its own balance, in a way that is not invasive, but supportive and respectful of its own wisdom, knowing that each body wants to heal and has good reasons for the tension patterns it carries. I don’t want to force the body to do anything; my goal is to support the client’s body to make the changes it needs to, gently and effectively.
